Description
Autumn Colors celebrates the vivid beauty of fall with a collection of 10 stamps featuring photographs by acclaimed nature and garden photographer Allen Rokach (1941–2021). Rokach was known for using what he called the “Rokach effect,” a technique that gave his images a soft, impressionistic quality.
The sheet of 20 stamps presents a stunning selection of photographs captured in different locations across the United States. Along with the familiar autumn shades of orange, red, and yellow, the images also highlight touches of vermilion, ocher, violet, and cobalt across a variety of landscapes.
Many places throughout the country offer memorable views of fall foliage. New England draws millions of visitors each year thanks to weather conditions that create the ideal setting for the region’s famously vibrant seasonal colors. Farther south, autumn leaves along the Blue Ridge Parkway and Maryland’s Eastern Shore follow a similar progression to those in the Northeast, though peak color may arrive later in some places depending on elevation.
